Frequently Asked Questions

How accurate is the word count?

WritePadPro uses the same whitespace-splitting algorithm as Microsoft Word and Google Docs. Words are counted by splitting on spaces, tabs, and line breaks, then filtering empty tokens. The result matches standard word processors within 0.1% accuracy for normal prose text.

How is reading time calculated?

Reading time is calculated at 200 words per minute (WPM), which is the average adult silent reading speed for English prose. Speaking time uses 150 WPM, which is the average conversational speaking pace. Both are rounded up to the nearest minute.

What readability score does it show?

The detailed analysis shows the Flesch Reading Ease score (0-100 scale). Higher scores mean easier text: 90-100 is 5th grade, 60-70 is 8th-9th grade (ideal for web content), 30-50 is college level, and below 30 is graduate level. The score is based on average sentence length and average syllables per word.

What are the top keywords?

The detailed analysis extracts your most frequently used words (excluding common stop words like "the", "is", "and"). Each keyword shows its frequency count and a visual bar representing relative usage. This helps identify your content focus and can inform SEO keyword optimization.

How are pages estimated?

Page count uses the standard 250 words per page (standard formatting, 12pt font, double-spaced). This is the convention used by publishers, academics, and word processing software. The detailed analysis also shows double-spaced page estimates at 125 words per page.

Is my text sent to a server?

No. All counting and analysis happens entirely in your browser using JavaScript. Your text never leaves your device. Nothing is transmitted, stored, or processed externally.
